Soprano Hannah Armstrong is a dynamic and versatile performer, as comfortable with Baroque music of Vivaldi and Handel as she is with 20th century works of Poulenc and Paulus. A contracted artist and frequent soloist with The Singers, a professional chorus based in the Twin Cities, she has been reviewed by the Minneapolis Star Tribune as “soaring prayerfully” in her solo appearance in Fauré’s Requiem. Hannah has also been a member of the MN Beethoven Festival Chorale, conducted by the legendary Dale Warland, and was a member of Luther College’s famed Nordic Choir under the direction of Craig Arnold. She has been a featured soloist with The Oratorio Society of Minnesota, the Augsburg Masterworks Chorale, and the University of Minnesota Orchestra.

Hannah’s solo recital work has included special focus on compositions by living composers including Jocelyn Hagen, Imant Raminsh, David Evan Thomas, Timothy Takach, and Martha Helen Schmidt. She performed a collection of new music at the 2018 NATS National Convention, representing Graphite Publishing. Her chamber music experience includes performing with The Mirandola Ensemble and The Bach Roots Festival, both based in Minneapolis - St. Paul. She is a new music recording artist for noted publishers E.C. Schirmer, MorningStar Music, and G.I.A.

Hannah holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota, where she earned her M.M. studying with Dr. Wendy Zaro-Mullins. She graduated from Luther College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Africana Studies.

Hannah is a music educator at Burroughs Community School in Minneapolis, where she teaches general music grades k-5. She is a Section Leader and soloist in The House of Hope Presbyterian Church Motet Choir in St. Paul, where she also serves as an associate conductor. Summers find her enjoying the sunshine at the lakes training for her next triathlon.
